All Experts start out as newbies at one point and those who quickly found their footing and hit the ground running often attribute their success to experience on the site and the support from fellow Experts.

As we continue to spotlight JustAwesome Experts in the community, we turn our attention to a group of new Experts who are finding their footing and taking advantage of the support available to thrive on JustAnswer. We asked a few of these rockstar newbies to share their experiences on the site and how they've found success.


Dr. Stan, Medical Expert on JustAnswer since March 2016

I found out about JustAnswer from a friend who is a Legal Expert on the site. Prior to JustAnswer, I was in Family Medicine for 40 years and decided it was time to slow down.

I became an Expert on JustAnswer because it's a good way to earn additional income and maintain my family's lifestyle. I get an opportunity to continue learning from other Experts as I help customers with their medical questions. Being an Expert on JustAnswer makes me feel like I have accomplished another milestone in my career.

I attribute my success on JustAnswer to other Experts who have been a great source of information. I've been able to pick up a lot of best practices from other Experts such as how to formulate my answers to different types of questions.

The best advice I have for new Experts is to remain humble and treat every question as a way to learn. Don't panic if you don't know the answer to every question and don’t be afraid to ask for help from the community or Expert Support.

Albert, Legal Expert on JustAnswer since March 2016

I found out about JustAnswer from an online article. Outside of JustAnswer, I run a general practice law firm with my partner with a focus on municipal government practice.

I became an Expert on JustAnswer because I like the flexibility to work from anywhere and at any time on my smartphone or tablet. I also enjoy being able to help those in need of legal information.

I use the additional income to pay my bills.

Dr. Jessica, Veterinary Expert on JustAnswer since May 2016

I found out about JustAnswer from one of my colleagues. She knows how much I like helping people and their pets, especially when other primary care facilities are closed. Outside of JustAnswer, I work as an emergency veterinarian - primarily nights and weekends. I also do some relief work at local day practices a few times per month.

I became an Expert on JustAnswer because I like being able to help people and their pets when I can and from the comfort of my own home.

I attribute my success on JustAnswer to the support I get from customers, other Experts, and the moderators.

The best advice I have for new Experts is to do the best you can to help customers with their questions. Don't feel intimidated if you're not able to answer a question. Remember that you can simply "opt out" and let another Expert pick up where you left off.

I use the additional income to help nurse our most recent rescues - 3 new horses, 1 mule, and 2 little dogs - back to health.

I found out about JustAnswer by asking a real estate question. Within 30 minutes, I had my question answered with comprehensive information. Outside of JustAnswer, I work at a car dealership as an ASE certified technician.

I became an Expert on JustAnswer because I was impressed with how much value I got from the site as a customer. With my automotive expertise, I felt I can be as helpful in the Car categories. I applied that same day and after a thorough verification process, I was admitted.

I attribute my success on JustAnswer to having a passion for what I do. I want to replicate the same great experience I had as a customer and strive to be as attentive as I can with every customer.

The best advice I have for new Experts is to listen to customers and try to understand exactly what they're asking for. I like to acknowledge customers with a personalized greeting using their names. When you can, give customers an extra piece of information that's a little bit beyond what they're asking for.

I use the additional income to save for a beach house with my wife. I can honestly say we'll be able to get that beach house much sooner thanks to JustAnswer.

I found out about JustAnswer by asking an electronics question. My young son accidentally sprayed our TV with window cleaner and I was looking to see if it was salvageable. Unfortunately, I could not save the TV but I started digging around JustAnswer and decided to apply. Outside of JustAnswer, I am an IT manager for a global consulting firm.

I became an Expert on JustAnswer because I like the flexibility it provides. I have a primary job, two young kids, and a wife that works from home. JustAnswer allows me to help customers during the kids' naptime or in the evening.

I attribute my success on JustAnswer to my broad experience in the IT field and customer service. I've had a couple of longtime Experts who reached out and offered support, which was very nice and welcomed. I found out very quickly that I could be more successful by fulfilling on secure remote assistance requests.

The best advice I have for new Experts is to watch how other Experts work and see how they communicate with different customers. Also, I strongly suggest that you be 100% honest with customers. If you don't know something, let the customer know and pass the question along to other Experts.

I use the additional income to help pay down my school loans.

Dr. Dani, Veterinary Expert on JustAnswer since June 2016

I found out about JustAnswer from a Facebook group of my colleagues, one of whom was an Expert in the past. She recommended it as a way to earn some extra money. Outside of JustAnswer, I am a small animal veterinarian at a clinic in California.

I became an Expert on JustAnswer because I really enjoy the flexibility. I am able to work at night from my couch which is great.

I attribute my success on JustAnswer to the moderators. They check in regularly and have been very helpful and responsive with all of my questions. I also went back and re-read numerous posts and answers from other Experts in my field. That gave me a pretty good idea of how things worked.

The best advice I have for new Experts is to try and connect personally with customers. In veterinary, I connect with customers by repeating the names of their pets, letting them know if they have a breed I particularly like or praising them for how well they take care of their pets. I truly believe that customers appreciate these things.

I use the additional income to pay for a vacation or allow me to take a couple of days off from my day job each month.

    Excellent information; note that just about all of these "new" experts have identified the assistance from fellow experts as one of the, if not "the" most important factor in reducing their learning curve on JustAnswer.com.

    Ok, I get the expert job and treating every Q as a learning experience, because it is! What I am not an expert in is operating systems.... Even as an early adopter, the GUI is not always GUI. I will study this platform till I am able to serve with out causing grief to my callers.

    As an example, I do not know if I am posting to and as an expert, or if this conservation is meant to be for "askers". I think this is the first time I have succeed in signing in or logging in, but I hope I am logged in as an expert, not the public. Possible a back ground tint could differentiate the public VS the expert side?
