Lori Howard: A Woman of Many Talents

By Anh Nguyen |

Not many people can claim to be a published novelist, songwriter, teacher, and U.S. Army award recipient, but Lori Howard is all of those things and more. She is also a longtime Homework and Essay Expert on JustAnswer.

In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week, we talked to Lori about her teaching experience, creative projects, and motivation for being an Expert on JustAnswer.

JustAnswer: Tell us a little bit yourself and what you were doing before you joined JustAnswer.

Lori: I’m a single mother of four grown kids. I have seven grandchildren, only one of them a boy, but his identical twin brothers are coming in June. Prior to JustAnswer, I was working on my novel, Anna Blair's Visitors. I was also a teacher at schools in Battle Ground, WA, Dillingham, AK, and Wapato, WA.

JustAnswer: What did you teach and are you still teaching today?

Lori: I taught English, Language Arts, Reading, and Writing to high school kids. I mainly worked with students who were lower level and required more help. After that, I taught a quarter of college. I am not teaching anymore but I plan to launch my own teaching channel on YouTube soon.

JustAnswer: Speaking of YouTube, you have a music channel with songs written and sung by you. What’s your music background?

Lori: My life has been about music. I've been writing music for forty-five years and was asked to tour with an up-and-coming band in 1990 but I declined because I wanted to be home with my family.

I write and sing all types of music, just whatever comes out of my head. I suppose my style of music is more country blues than anything else. On my YouTube channel, you can find some serious songs and some pretty weird ones.

JustAnswer: Weird or not, it definitely looks like you had fun singing those songs. Do you have any other memorable moments?

Left: Lori singing at the General's Ball.
Right: The Molly Pitcher Award received by Lori.

Lori: In 1994, I received the U.S. Army’s Molly Pitcher Award at Ft. Sill, OK for volunteering to sing for new recruits in church services and other functions. I was given the award by a General at the General's Ball. It was a really special moment.

JustAnswer: That’s incredible! In addition to being a songwriter, you’re also a published novelist. Tell us about your first novel and anything else you’re working on.

Lori: Anna Blair's Visitors is a fictional account of a true story. It's about a single mother of four, who has undeniably suffered physically, emotionally, and mentally. It is loosely based on fact, about abuse, survival, and ghosts!

I am finishing up an autobiography on my experience surviving with PTSD. I plan to be done with it by the end of the year and I also want to write about my teaching experience.

JustAnswer: Let’s talk about your experience on JustAnswer. What’s your motivation for being an Expert and what do you find most rewarding about the experience?

Lori: I became an Expert on JustAnswer because I need to be at home for the most part. Being an Expert is ideal as it gives me work and more experience in writing. The earnings I’ve received through JustAnswer have allowed me to help my kids. I love sending them presents.

The most rewarding part of being an Expert is helping people get past difficult writing assignments. Not everyone is trying to become writers but I like to encourage all my customers to read what I've written as it can help them to write better.

Thank you to Lori for sharing her story with us.
